Central Okanagan Local Immigration Partnership (COLIP) Presents Ignite Okanagan 2023

A Newcomer Workforce Integration Event

Kelowna, BC - Central Okanagan Employers are being invited to attend a free workshop on how to build a welcoming and inclusive workplace to attract new immigrant workers.  The event is being organized by the Local Immigration Partnership of the Central Okanagan and is meant to help employers understand the opportunity to address their labour challenges through an inclusive workforce.   

Organized in collaboration with WorkBC Kelowna Centre, KCR Community Resources, Accelerate Okanagan, and Kelowna Chamber of Commerce, the event will be held from 2:00 -3:30 pm Tuesday Sept. 12th at Accelerate Okanagan.  It aims to educate employers on creating inclusive workplaces and facilitating successful immigrant workforce integration.

“Internationally trained and experienced workers bring a vast array of skills and perspectives to our workforce,” says Joel Gunther, Employer and Community Coordinator with WorkBC Centre Kelowna and member of COLIP. “Employers that attend this workshop will benefit from understanding the needs of our growing and diverse immigrant communities in Central Okanagan.”

The event will include the following guest speakers:

  2. Kevin Tucker and Mackenzie Barton, HR Professionals with Westwood Fine Cabinetry
  3. Peter Boyd, Owner of Your Independent Grocer
  4. Philip Mitchell, KCR Community Resources.
  5. Devon Franklin, Senior Manager, Skills Validation & Strategic Initiatives with Immigrant Employment Council of BC
