Whistler: Two of the central Okanagan’s largest business advocacy groups are joining forces. The Greater Westside Board of Trade and the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce signed an MOU this week that creates the Central Okanagan Business Advocacy Team (COBAT). It was signed yesterday as both organizations attended the BC Chamber AGM in Whistler. The two organizations identified that there are a significant number of regional issues that aren’t getting enough attention and by combining forces, the groups believe they will have a stronger and more influential voice with government at all levels.

Dan Price, Chair of the Kelowna Chamber said of signing the agreement, “Our Board and staff look forward to supporting the work being done at the Greater Westside Board of Trade through more collaborative advocacy on street safety issues for business, labour force shortages, and the rising cost of doing business in the Okanagan. Throughout, we will explore other areas of cooperation beyond advocacy and policy that are mutually beneficial.”

Amber Hall, President of the Greater Westside Board of Trade said, “The Greater Westside Board of Trade looks forward to working alongside the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce to address issues such as transportation, public safety and housing. These issues affect both of our communities and when we work together, we can more effectively advocate to Government.”

The Understanding is in force for one year and will be reviewed in 2024.
