Be Prepared. Know Your Risks.

Emergency Preparedness Week runs from May 5 to 11 and is a national event supported by Public Safety Canada. An annual event for over 25 years, it traditionally takes place during the first full week of May. This year's theme, Be Prepared. Know Your Risks, encourages Canadians to understand the risks in their communities and to learn what they can do to protect themselves and their families.

Get Involved

This year, participate in the government's challenge to win an emergency kit on social media channels. Share how you're helping to make you and your family better prepared to cope during an emergency, and use the hashtags #EPWeek2024 or #ReadyforAnything.

It can be as simple as making an emergency kit with items found around your home, creating a family emergency plan, or becoming more informed about the hazards in your area. Get creative and post your messages, photos, or videos! Remember to use the hashtags #EPWeek2024 or #ReadyforAnything. More info on rules and regulations are available on the government website.
