National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a day for Canadians to commemorate the history and legacy of the residential school system. It’s a day to honour the resilience, dignity, and strength of survivors and remember the children who never came home. It's a chance to engage and educate about B.C.'s colonial history and how it has and continues to impact Indigenous communities.

The theme of this year's session - Honouring the Past, Building a Reconciled Future - will emphasize the importance of acknowledging and learning from the past while taking active steps toward reconciliation and fostering positive relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. It will encourage participants to reflect on the history of residential schools, understand its lasting impacts, and explore ways to contribute to reconciliation efforts in their personal and professional lives.

In this spirit, we invite you to attend the virtual event Embracing Truth: Honouring the National Day for Reconciliation with guest speakers Chief Trevor Makadahay of Doig River First Nation, and Kory Wilson, Executive Director, Indigenous Initiatives and Partnerships, BCIT. Hosted by the BC Chamber of Commerce, this event is a step in fostering understanding, collaboration, and reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in British Columbia.
