KELOWNA - The Kelowna Chamber hosted a record number 156 golfers at the 36th annual chamber golf tournament this week. Presented by Parke Pacific Projects Ltd. the event was held at the Harvest Golf Club and was fortunate to experience little smoke and relatively nice temperatures making it the most successful tournament to date.
“Obviously the business community is eager to attend live events and with us hosting a day of golf instead of our usual shotgun start we were able to have a few more foursomes participate,” says Dan Rogers, Chamber Executive Director. “It was a great day, and we continue to be humbled by the fantastic support we received and most appreciative of the team at The Harvest Golf Club for being such excellent hosts.”
As a privately funded non-profit organization this was one of the chamber’s major fund raisers of the year and the generous support of the many corporate sponsors also enabled the event to raise a bit of money and profile for the designated charity, Meals on Wheels. Through the support of title sponsor Parke Pacific Projects some money was also raised for the Indian Residential Schools Survivors Society and the Okanagan Sun amateur football team also raised some much-needed financial support during the event through a 50/50 contest. Final totals will be calculated in the next week or so.
The top team was impressive, shooting a sizzling 56, which is 16 under (par 72) in the Texas scramble event. The championship foursome included Adam Hutchens, Kevin Schmidt, Dylan Switzer and Michael Smith. A special thanks to all those that contributed water to keep people cool during the day including MLA Renee Merrifield.
“We want to thank Parke Pacific Projects for being our title sponsor again and look forward to continuing our partnership with them and all our corporate partners at our 37th Annual Golf Tournament scheduled for May of 2022.”
