Volunteering creates a lasting legacy that transforms the lives of the people who volunteer and the people that benefit. National Volunteer Week is an opportunity we can all take to recognize volunteers and celebrate the power of volunteerism in our community.

The Kelowna Chamber would like to recognize all of our volunteers for supporting our organization throughout the years; big thanks to our Volunteer Ambassadors, Board of Directors and Committee Members.

DID YOU KNOW?

To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Canada, Canadians are invited to give 150 hours of their time during 2017 and give back to their community and their country by making a difference in people’s lives. Register for the Challenge by signing in to their 150 for 150 on-line platform and mobile app provided by Volinspire. Track your volunteer hours and tell your volunteer stories through Volinspire, the Kelowna-based company whose community engagement platform was selected as the national platform for the 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge. The City of Kelowna is challenging residents to collectively contribute 150,000 volunteer hours in 2017.

Those who have contributed the most hours in each province and territory will be invited to Ottawa to be recognized in a ceremony in early 2018. Special recognition will be awarded to “New Canadian 150 for 150 Volunteer”, “Aboriginal 150 for 150 Volunteer”, “Youth 150 for 150 Volunteer” and “Senior 150 for 150 Volunteer”.

WHERE CAN I VOLUNTEER?

To find volunteer opportunities, there are a few avenues to take:

TimeDrive is a fantastic event where non-profit organizations have a chance to showcase their volunteer opportunities to event attendees who bid their time as a sign of support in a "charity auction" format. This is a great opportunity to talk face-to-face with the organization in need!
