Green Business Awards Recipients

2012 GREEN BUSINESS AWARDS RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED

KELOWNA, BC – The recipients of the four 2012 Green Business Awards were announced Wednesday April 25 at the Coast Capri Hotel. The awards were presented in partnership by the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce and SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise).

Each of the following category recipients has had to incorporate environmental sustainability into their business model and mission/vision statements. These businesses must also have met and exceeded their industry standards along with ensuring long-term sustainability for their green initiatives.

Small Green Business Award (1-10 employees)

• Sunshine Farms

Large Green Business Award (31+ employees)

• Cintas Canada Ltd.

Green Innovator Award

• Optic Signs & Marketing

C.J. Wilkins made a strong commitment to an environmentally based change to his business. He risked substantial capital to make the change and this sort of commitment clearly embodied the spirit of the innovator award - leading by example.



Lisa McIntosh of Urban Harvest Organic Delivery was honoured as the 2012 Sustainability Leader of the Year. To receive the prestigious Sustainability Leader of the Year, the organization had to have implemented innovative practices to reduce negative environmental impacts and must have achieved significant results in environmental stewardship. The recipient of this award has also demonstrated initiative and has been a catalyst for change within their industry sector.


The Green Business Awards is a project initiative to recognize businesses and organizations within Kelowna who successfully operate with environmentally sustainable practices. The objective of the awards is to further educate businesses throughout the community on the benefits of employing these strategies.
