Minister Guilbeault’s remarks on pipelines were damaging to business confidence, especially given the encouraging direction and recent comments by Prime Minister Carney that recognized the importance of our natural resources sector. As business in Canada, we are hoping to see clarity and consistency from Minister Guilbeault and all members of Cabinet about the need for more energy infrastructure and the shared benefit from this sector to Canadian economic security. Investors and businesses need confidence to connect Canada’s energy supply chains. We support the Prime Minister’s clear message that it’s the right time to build, preparing us for the long-term resilience of Canada’s economy. We cannot afford to wait or waiver on economic unity at this pivotal time.
